A holistic approach

At APSK, we take a holistic approach to preparing children for primary school. Throughout the day, children take part in a range of experiences, including literacy, numeracy and language groups, that prepare them for the move into the school classroom.

A successful first year of school is the foundation for:
• children's ongoing success in learning
• a strong relationship between school and family

Starting school is exciting, but it can also bring some nerves for children and their families. Moving from a familiar preschool, with its established relationships and routines, to a larger school setting can feel overwhelming, even for very confident children. APSK plays an important role in easing this transition for children and families.

Our educators create positive learning environments and guide each child's experiences in partnership with their family. Educators observe and support each child's learning and document it throughout the year in an individual portfolio. Children and families are encouraged to take part in this ongoing process.
